This ethereal 1900 landscape envelops the viewer in the quiet, mystical atmosphere of a foggy evening. A soft, buttery full moon hangs suspended in a hazy, luminous sky, casting a gentle gradient of light over a dense, highly textured forest canopy and a faint winding path below.
Franz Rumpler
Franz Rumpler (1848–1922) was a highly influential Austrian genre and landscape painter, who later served as a prominent professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Over his distinguished career, his artistic style evolved from traditional academic foundations toward an atmospheric, light-centric approach heavily inspired by French Impressionism and the Barbizon school.
